Azurduy instead of Roca on our $100 bill?

A lucid analysis by Maggie
Senators in Argentina want to change Roca’s face for Azurduy’s in the $100 bill.
This is mainly because there is not even one woman in an Argentinean bill. Another reason is that Roca is considered a genocidal former president. Let’s go over what both of these figures did throughout their lives to decide on what side we stand.
Julio Argentino Roca was a general who was elected president of Argentina twice. (1880 through 1886 and 1898 through 1904). During Avellaneda’s presidency, he served as minister of War and dealt with the indian communities in the Pampa, after Alsina’s failure. His approach was more aggressive, and he just killed all the aborigines. During his first presidency he passed certain laws which made his relation with the church break.
On the other hand, Juana Azurduy was also a general, but she never became president. She led a revolution in Bolivia, while she helped in Argentina. She was given the rank of Lieutenant Colonel by Pueyrredón. She died in poverty in 1862.
In my opinion, the $ 100 bill should be changed, but for someone who was more important in Argentina, like José de San Martín (who’s currently in the $5 bill) and put Juana Azurduy where he is now.
