By Santi (a big San Lorenzo fan!)

On Friday June 13th, Miguel Ángel Russo was introduced as San Lorenzo’s new coach. After assessing many names, such as Cousillas, Madelón, Chilavert, Maradona, Simeone, Gallego and Pekerman, Russo was the chosen one for Savino.

History and present of Miguel Ángel Russo. He was born in Lanús in 1956. As a player, he only played for Estudiantes de la Plata, and he was also called by Bilardo to play the World Cup in 1986. He coached Lanús, Estudiantes, Rosario Central, Colón, Los Andes, Vélez and Boca in Argentina; Universidad de Chile, in Chile; Morelia in Mexico, and Salamanca in Spain.

As a San Lorenzo follower, Russo is not my best choice. For this period, I would have preferred someone who was part of San Lorenzo’s team in the past. But I cannot be unfair to him, because he won a Libertadores Cup with Boca, a National Championship with Vélez, and he had his teams promoted twice, once with Lanús and once with Estudiantes.

“I’m very happy to be part of such a big team, with a huge history. Now I need to win the people”, Russo said at his introductory press conference.
